It’s Not Your Job To Change People

Nov 5, 2021

I don’t know if anyone’s told you lately but it’s not your responsibility to change folks.

It never was and it never will be, sis.

This idea that you have to help others become educated in certain areas of their life is total BS! All it does is mentally and physically exhaust you to your core. And can we just say, that’s hella unfair to you.

One of our favorite pieces of advice to give clients is “in order for someone to change their circumstances, their desire to change must be greater than their desire to stay the same. ” If someone is truly interested in changing they will seek you out, it’s not your job to seek them out.

And to be honest, a crazy high amount of people are gonna be really ignorant, problematic and racist. Oh, and they won’t care to do anything about it. They might try a few new things, but in the end they will stick with their ways and continue contributing to the problem.

Many clients hate certain areas of their lives, like absolutely HATE. Yet when asked what they can do to change these areas, they say they are powerless and can’t do anything about it. They would rather be unhappy, than put the effort in to change what is making them so unhappy. And you know what, it’s not your burden to carry.

Don’t waste your time on people who don’t want to change. Allow the ones who are willing to put in the hard work and dedication it takes come to you. From that, you’ll grow to be happier, more successful people.

During this process, PLEASE remember to protect your energy and peace at all costs, boo. And stop putting so much pressure on yourself to save the whole freaking system. Especially if it means you drown in the process.
